Valalta

Valalta is one of the largest naturist camping resorts in Europe.

It has 70 hectares with almost 2000 apartments, bungalows, mobile homes, caravans and camp sites with a capacity for over 4000 naked people and families.

Several restaurants and bars, a large swimming pool, a nude marina, several beautiful nude, sandy beaches, their own brewery that brews delicious light and dark beer (I prefer the dark).

The resort is family oriented so it is all very natural and above board. There are families and couples from all over the world, although German is the language heard most often.

Porec

I anchored in Uvala Mulandarija to the south, and caught the tourist train to Porec to use the Internet cafe.

Rovinj

A fascinating city from the water. Unfortunately, an afternoon blow prevented me from going ashore as I had to move on.

Columbine Bay (Portic) Kamenjac (Anchorage)

Kamenjak Peninsula
Since this bay has no name on the chart, I named it after the yacht "Columbine" that recommended this as a good anchorage.

A well protected bay with good holding.

One can go ashore and walk up to the viewing point at the summit, or walk down to the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula just a few hundred meters to the south.

Medulin

A touristy town with nice waterfront restaurants.

I anchored in the bay to the north and dinghied in to the dock.

Crveni Otok

I anchored in the bay on the east side as a lunch stop before continuing to U. Soline south of Pula. The island to the south is a naturist island. Nude beach.

There is a large hotel complex on the northern island.

Brijuni Island National Park

It is VERY expensive to anchor or dock your boat within the Brijuni National Park. Acording to the park website berthing prices in July and August range from €170/night for less than 15 m to €780 for more than 40m. I think there is also a per person charge.

It was recommended to me to go to the marina in Fazana and catch the ferryboat to the Brijuni Islands that are meant to be fascinating.

The cost of the ferry includes the park entrance, I believe.

Marshal Tito had his summer residence there and collected many exotic animals.

Luka Vinjole (Anchorage)

I tucked into the head of Uvala Ostarija for a comfortable night.

Uvala Tunarica (Anchorage)

I spent a few days here during a blow. Very protected anchorage with an interesting entrance up the fjord.

Rabac (Anchorage)

I spent a rolly night here during a strong Bora.

I had attempted to motor around the north tip of Cres, but the Bora blew up out of nowhere and I was caught towing my dinghy with the outboard attached.

A scary ride downwind, back to Rabac, with the dinghy trying to surf past me on each wave, but all survived intact.

I got my anchor caught on a mooring block and had to drop a loop of chain and rope down my vertical anchorchain and pull the anchor out sideways after slacking the chain. Not my favorite day.

Istrian Wine (Winery)

You can stop at  wineries in villages of each region along the wine routes,  tasting wines that have won international awards, or stop at local residences with signs that they offer wine. You can try the wine of the area at konobas in each village. Do not miss the prsut, which is fantastic smoked ham.

The wine routes are:
THE WINE ROAD OF BUJE REGION
Brtonigla, Umag, Novigrad, Dajla, Nova Vas, Groznjan, Buje, Savudrija
THE WINE ROAD OF THE POREC REGION
Visnjan, Tar, Baderna, Funtana, Lovrec
THE WINE ROAD OF BUZET & PAZIN
Buzet, Tinjan, Pazin
THE WINE ROAD OF ROVINJ & VODNJAN REGION
Rovinj, Vodnjan, Valbandon

The white, Malvazija (malmsey) from centuries old vineyards, is a yellowing to golden color and has a scent of locust blossoms. It goes well with seafood.

Red wine of  Teran,  the wine of choice for Casanova (who spent summers in Vrsar) has a full and fruity flavor and is fantastic with meat.

Muskat has a golden color, a floral scent, and is very dry and sweet and is rumored to be an aphrodesiac.
