This interesting town is the birthplace of most of the gulets (pronounced goolet) that you see around the Turkish coast.

There are several gullet shipyards on the Western shore producing the large, pine hulled, old world, sailing charter yachts.

The town must have a lot of history and there is a large greek theater near the shore.

One can see some carved tombs up on the mountainside that look like they need to be explored.

Fethiye Anchorage (Anchorage)

On my return to Fethiye I anchored outside the marina just west of the channel buoys.

Easy dinghy to the marina dock and supermarket.

Telmessos Theater (Historic)

There was no above ground evidence of this 6000 seat theater until it was excavated in between 1992 and 1995.

They say you can tell the population of the day by the size of the theater.

I think someone suggested that the population would generally be about 10 times the capacity of the theater which would mean 60,000 people.

Marina Supermarket (Supermarket)

I rowed ashore from the anchorage to spend my last Lira before departing for Rhodes.

A nice supermarket situated in the marina but might not be the cheapest in town

Fuel Dock (Fuel)

The fuel dock is in the SE corner of the marina.

Port Authority (Formalities)

The port authority is located at the marina entrance very close to the fuel dock.

The fuel dock staff were kind enough to let me leave the boat on the fuel dock and run in there to clear out of Turkey for Rhodes.
