Bahia Potrero (Anchorage)

Playa del Coco (Anchorage)

.  Fairly touristy town both foreign and Costa Rican.  Lots of restuarants , markets and facilities. Recommend leaving someone aboard when away from boat.  Place to shop and provision. Best anchorage is Playa Hermosa North of Coco.  Beautiful spot.  Small hotels and restuarants along lovely beach.

Cocos Island

Entirely a Marine Park and is totally uninhabited but for some park rangers and volunteers who reside in one of two stations, a small one here in Chatham Bay, the other larger base half-way around the north side of the island. There are no facilities ashore for tourists, so all must come by sea.

Quepos

Excellent place to pull in and stay awhile.
Before the new marina Pez Vela , anchorage was open to the Pacific swell and uncomfortable at times.  The new marina is fantastic.  Safe , extremely modern with every kind of facility with a travel lift expected by year end 2012.
Short walk from the marina in the town of Quepos. Lots of shopping , bars , restuarants and other diversions for weary crews. Strong tourist police presence in town makes for a  safer and pleasant stay.
The National Park of Manuel Antonio is 10  minutes away by cab with high end hotels and restuarants  lining the route.
Si Como No is one of the hotels along the way made famous in one of Jimmy Buffets books.
