Plaza Cort (Excursion)
The town square next to the city hall is the venue for many functions, like the New Year's Eve celebration where the whole town turns out at midnight and everyone brings their own champagne and eats 12 grapes, one on each final strike of the city clock at the end of the old year.
This is common practice throughout Spain, but be careful; apparently there have been fatalities as people swallow the grapes whole, making a wish for the new year with each grape.
