Like all the other islands, this island was originally named after a saint, San Juan, but some ancient cartogropher mixed up the island with the port which was called Puerto Rico, and these names have stuck to this day.

Arecibo Radio Telescope (Point of Interest)
This 305 m radio telescope is the largest single-aperture telescope ever constructed. It is used for radio astronomy, aeronomy and radar astronomy observations of solar system objects.
It was constructed in a natural depression created by a karst sinkhole.
