The Alhambra is an exquisite 9th Century Moorish palace situated on the hill above the city of Granada. It was the residence of the Muslim kings of Granada and their court, it is currently a museum exhibiting exquisite Islamic architecture

The wife of Boabdil, is said to have secretly met her lover, the chief of the Abencerrajes clan. The sultan had the chief’s men massacred upon discovery of the infidelity. A 700-year-old cypress tree, now held in place with a steel band, commemorates the trysting place.
