We first had to catch a bus to the inland town of Motril, and then a bus to Grenada. It was an all day trip.

Patio of the Sultans (Point of Interest)

Location of the lovers tree.

The wife of Boabdil, is said to have secretly met her lover, the chief of the Abencerrajes clan. The sultan had the chief’s men massacred upon discovery of the infidelity. A 700-year-old cypress tree, now held in place with a steel band, commemorates the trysting place.
