The afternoon that I arrived here, there was some sort of festival going on and everybody (and their dog) was out prominading along the waterfront.

Shortly after I arrived a parade started and I had a good view from the deck of the boat.

The Fallen Sailors monument across the bay is interesting.

Nice restaurants along the waterfront.

Monument to Fallen Sailors (Point of Interest)

The Monument to Fallen Sailors dominates the skyline opposite the town dock. It is shaped like a ship's rudder.

One guidebook says that you are not allowed to take cameras up to the top due to the military installations around the area.

Port Authority (Formalities)

On my way north, I dutifully went to the Port Authority, as I had been instructed, and it took me about 90 minutes of hanging around an office while officers of varying rank filled out and stamped paperwork and blew smoke rings at the ceiling while waiting for clerical staff to enter my boat details in various volumes and ledgers in long hand.

They were all very friendly and helpful, but it seemed like this was an unusual occurrence and  I was the first boat that ever checked in. I asked whether checking in was really necessary and the consensus was that whenever I docked in a port of any size, I should go to the Port Authority.

It did not cost me anything except the time, and I think all would have been quite happy had I not bothered them that afternoon.

I read that being a military port they tend to follow the letter of the law.

Di per Di supermarket (Supermarket)

Good supermarket

Somewhere on this main street, Corso Roma.

There is another Di per Di closer to the bus stop at Piazza Cairoli if you come in by bus.

Good chandlery on via San Francesco.

Vegetable Market (Market)

Di per Di (Supermarket)

This Di per Di might be slightly smaller than the other, but it is a lot closer to the bus, if you are going to the marina
