Croatia - Mjlet and Lastovo fees
An anchoring fee of about 100 kuna for each person on board will be charged by parks staff to anchor in northern Mjlet. The fee is not optional but it does provide admission to the adjacent park, a bus shuttle to the park and boat shuttle on the saltwater lakes within the park. The fee may be paid at a kiosk on shore or parks staff will circulate amongst anchored boats until the fee is collected.
We were told by other boaters that a similar fee is collected from boats anchoring in Lastovo, but we were not approached during our several days in its harbours.

A large section of the NW corner of Mljet is a National Park, but unlike Kornati, there is no cost to anchor or land (at least I was not approached during my 3 day stay in August).
I only had to pay when I entered the park, and this included the bus and ferry to the monastery. The park entrance fee applies to people travelling by bus, bike, car or on foot and it is a very worthwhile excursion.

Polace (Anchorage)
I anchored on the shoal that is evident in the satellite picture, in the middle left of the bay in about 5 meters.

Konoba Antika (Restaurant)
Antika restaurant is like home away from home. The food is excellent, they offer free moorings, and like many restaurants around Mljet, free dockage with electricity, if you patronise the restaurant.
I had a great grilled vegetarian platter for lunch, and some wonderful fish for dinner.

Mljet Park (Excursion)
In 2009 we took the other ferry from the monastery to Mali Most (Small Bridge) and walked around the small lake and over to Pomena.
We then returned to Mali Most and caught the ferry back to the bus.

After touring the monastery, you ferry back to the bus, which runs regularly, and back to Polace.

The castle was built around the third or fourth century AD. Rumored to have belonged to Agesilaus, exiled here by Septimus Severus, and later pardoned by Caracalla.

I anchored successfully during the afternoon, in the east and south of this bay, but gusts were quite intense and the weather looked like it was deteriorating, so I moved to a dock in Pomena for dinner.

Konoba Galija (Free) (Dockage)
Once again, the restaurants offer free dockage if you eat there.
I chose to dock here as the weather was threatening, and had a great dinner and a good evening. The restaurant has a lobster and fish tank on the dock so you can pick your dinner before they cook it.
I had a steak, which was excellant and huge, seated at a table right in front of my boat. It does not get much better than that.
There were several, large goullet type, multi passenger charter boats on the opposite dock, with mostly Austalian passengers, so the bars around the bay were very festive until late into the night.

Hotel Odesej (Internet)
A popular hotel, with an internet cafe access.
Beware the Bankomat (ATM) that ate my card in 2007 and the hotel could do nothing about it. They said I needed to contact the bank in Zageb or somewhere.
